The long-awaited return of Stats has come in the form of the electro-pop banger, ‘Naturalise Me’. A barrage of plopping percussion sounds work their way into harmony alongside a fuzzy bass synth sound, while Ed Seed’s voice switches between jubilant falsetto and melodic musings on roots and the feeling of being an outsider. “Growing up I felt like I didn’t fit in or belong where I was born and raised. I’m sure a lot of people feel this way” he explains. TMR covered the band’s well-loved debut album, Other People’s Lives, last year (which even grabbed Elton John’s attention), and it seems that since then they’ve gone from strength to strength.
